Day of the Dead in Mexico

Day of the Dead is a holiday in Mexico that is recognized in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saint’s Day and All Souls’ Day.   Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is celebrated over several days from October 31st through November 2nd. The festivities focus on the gathering of families and friends to pray for and remember the deceased.  One of the traditions is to build an altar for the dead, containing their favorite foods and memorabilia to commemorate events of their life.
