“Welcome home” was the first e-mail message that Michael P. Sinnott received from Bernard E. “Buzzy” Stoecklein Jr. after accepting the position of vice president of sales for CMS Mid-Atlantic, Inc. Mr. Stoecklein, who is the president and CEO of CMS Mid-Atlantic, introduced Mr. Sinnott to the memorialization industry in 1989 when he hired him as a cemetery sales counselor at CMS West, Inc., a company that Mr. Stoecklein operated in Pittsburgh, PA.
As the vice president of sales, Mr. Sinnott will direct the sales activities for CMS, a New Jersey-based company that provides financial, marketing and consulting services as well as business development processes to the cemetery industry throughout New Jersey and New York.
“I am looking forward to working with Buzzy and the entire CMS organization. They consistently provide the highest level of customer service and dedication to the families that they serve,” said Mr. Sinnott. “I consider it a true honor to be invited to join such a fine company.”
During his three-year tenure with CMS West, Mr. Sinnott advanced to the position of location manager. His career path then led to Matthews International Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer and marketer of cast bronze memorialization products. Throughout the nearly 20 years that Mr. Sinnott was with Matthews, he held three key positions.
- In his initial role with Matthews, he assisted customers with all of their bronze memorial needs which ranged from cast bronze memorials and cremation urns to mausoleum products and statuary.
- When he held the position of special projects/brand manager, Mr. Sinnott played major roles in the research and development as well as the marketing of Matthews’ patented IMPact® memorialization system and the distinctive collection of highly personalized Lasting Memories® memorials — two product lines that helped distinguish Matthews as the industry leader.
- In his most recent position as director of business development, Mr. Sinnott was charged with developing new business while owning the relationship with major national accounts.
Mr. Sinnott has a high profile throughout the cemetery industry. He is an active member of various international and state associations where he has also been a guest speaker.
Mr. Stoecklein shares Mr. Sinnott’s enthusiasm about their new working relationship. “Mike brings invaluable knowledge and experience to CMS,” said Mr. Stoecklein. “He has a thorough knowledge of the memorialization industry, is straight forward yet sensitive to families’ concerns prior to the time of need and emotions at the time of immediate need, and displays the highest level of honesty and integrity.”
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Mr. Sinnott earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. He and his wife, Ginny, and their daughter, Sarah, are relocating to New Jersey. He will maintain an office at Hollywood Memorial Park and Cemetery in Union, New Jersey.
