| February 08, 2010 | | They won 31 to 17. In defeating the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, the team apparently broke a cemetery curse that dates back nearly 40 years. According to an article published in the New York Daily News, February 5, In 1971 when the site for the Superdome was being excavated, workers unearthed the human remains from what was once the Girod Street Cemetery. The article went on to detail that the bodies buried in the cemetery were the remains of people who died from the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1850 and cholera epidemic of 1930. The bodies were buried at the site and never claimed by loved ones. Believing that there was a hint of truth to the superstition that the land was cursed, the team even brought in a voodoo priestess in 2000. Apparently 10 years later, the curse is broken. cmsmidatlantic: "We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today."... cmsmidatlantic: On this date in 1973, J.R.R.
