Vestal Hills Memorial Park Establishes Scholarship to Honor Memory of Beloved Counselor

A philosopher once wrote, “No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on us forever.” That sentiment is shared by the many people who knew Mary DiLascia, a wife, mother, grandmother and true friend who passed away suddenly on April 23, 2008.

A resident of Binghamton, New York, Mary devoted her life to helping others. Serving as a family service counselor at Vestal Hills Memorial Park for the past 12 years, she assisted families from the area with their burial arrangements — giving them the peace of mind that their wishes would be carried out with compassion and care.

“Mary touched so many lives — those in our company as well as those in our community,” said Bernard E. Stoecklein, Jr., president of Vestal Hills and CEO of CMS Mid-Atlantic, Inc., the company that provides financial, marketing and consulting services to Vestal Hills Memorial Park. “Her unexpected passing fills us with sadness and our prayers are extended to her husband, daughter, sons and grandchild.”

To honor Mary’s memory, Mr. Stoecklein, the Board of Directors and Vestal Hills,  CMS Mid-Atlantic and the management of Vestal Hills Memorial Park are establishing the Mary DiLascia Memorial Scholarship — a $5,000 scholarship that will be awarded annually to a high school student in the Vestal/Binghamton area who intends to pursue a college degree.

“From the first year she was with Vestal Hills, Mary was decidedly considered “Best in the Profession” among her peer groups in the profession. Her dedication, care and overall friendship will be greatly missed.”
