CMS Mid-Atlantic Inc. uses Focus Groups to guide their thinking on sharing the message about prearranging as opposed to purchasing cemetery at the time of immediate need.

Cemetery Management Services a company that manages cemeteries in New Jersey and provides services in both New Jersey and in New York determines new directions for communicating with consumers about cemetery services offered at cemeteries and memorial parks it is affiliated with.

Focus Groups are guiding the thinking. Today more than ever people want to be well informed on what choices exist with cemetery decisions and they want to the opportunity to consider the choices on their own, in their home and not to have to make the choices alone and confused at the time of immediate need. The challenge for cemeteries everywhere is “how does a cemetery communicate about a topic that no one really wants to talk about but deep within people know it is something that we must all talk about”?

At CMS – Cemetery Management Services we are using both professional and public focus group discussions to guide our thinking so that we can develop methods of communicating with consumers that will help them understand the significant differences between prearranging cemetery property versus waiting until immediate need.

People often think that the most significant benefit is cost savings. While cost savings is substantial; the greater benefits are that of making the decision at a time when a family is not forced to make it in a few days and at a time when a family secures peace of mind and comfort from knowing that there is not undue stress and hardship put upon their surviving loved ones...

One new method developed at recent focus groups was the use of radio. You can read the script and listen to a recent radio airing at www.cemeterymanagementservices.org

At CMS we believe that one of our most important roles in helping families is sharing the benefits about prearranging their cemetery property before the time of immediate need…
